At our founding in 2008, we rescued about 60 cats from abusive shelters - housing them in the 2000 SF recreation room of the house of our founder until we could find a proper location for our adoption center.  It was shortly afterward that we rented about 2500 SF at the original Pets Supplies Plus location in Smithtown, New York.  We outfitted the space as cage-free, furnishing it as a regular home with leather sofas, big-screen tv and lots and lots of toys, cat trees, and various safe spaces.  We even equipped the space with multiple internet cameras that allowed the viewer to move the camera and zoom-in.    When Petco and PetsMart saw what we were doing, they invited us to manage their versions.  Although we were honored and initially accepted, their concepts were not consistent with our cage-free beliefs, and so we withdrew.  When you visit our location (still in Pets Supplies Plus in Smithtown but in their new smaller store providing us with a smaller space), you will have the opportunity to socialize with those entrusted to our care in a relaxed environment.  We hope to see you soon!
